smoke-n-mirrors:

Original early 1930s view of the lovely Burlesque showgirl and later Hollywood star Marion Martin. The utterly gorgeous Martin plays off her hard luck origin story (she, like many, entered the world of burlesque when her family lost their fortune in the crash of 1929) in this fur clad ensemble with world weary gaze. Martin got her show business start in an Earl Carroll stage review, she later signed on with Flo Ziegfeld and became a glorified American Girl in his Ziegfeld Follies replacing Gypsy Rose Lee in 1933. Outlandish, risque and beautiful are a few words that come to mind. By Murray Korman - New York
